Future, drive, energy - these are central concepts for Zweckverband Ostholstein (ZVO), a corporate group in transition from a traditional public utilities and waste management company to a modern service provider. At new headquarters in Sierksdorf in Ostholstein, the company set out to bring together all its divisions under one roof for the first time. The central requirement was for the architecture to express the ongoing development of the ZVO. The new building houses offices and labs, warehouses and workshops for some 250 employees on a single site. The staggered structure, use of a consistent formal language throughout and light colours in and outside are essential features of the architectural concept. This clarity is interspersed with detail - certain elements pick up on the colours of the local landscape, and the corporate colours are also integrated harmoniously into the architecture. The dynamic facade is complemented on the inside by the semi-open structure and intelligent office layout - all geared towards an active, communicative and forward-thinking working environment.
