Schwarzachtalhalle. Neunburg vorm wald
A new end point for the old town and an attractive event venue: the new town hall for the Upper Palatinate town of Neunburg vorm Wald integrates into a comprehensive overall concept. The design by RKW consolidates the urban planning structure developed over the town's many years of history by creating a new boulevard parallel to the main street between the old town and the town hall site. The new town hall stands orthogonally to the boulevard and offset to a new supermarket. A prestigious town square is thus formed with planted areas, narrow waterways, light stelae and wooden benches for the visitor to pass by on the way to the hall. The core function rooms, such as the council chamber, foyer and restaurant, open to the town square. A roof projecting over a corner emphasises this gesture and forms a flowing transition that given more emphasis by a water feature in front of the hall. The hall itself is a puristic structure that places a modern interpretation of the local style of light-coloured facade surfaces. Architectural concrete in conjunction with glazing determines the external appearance. The high-quality exposed concrete quality surfaces are continued inside by the walls and furniture.
