Main branch of Bilfinger Power Systems. Oberhausen

RKW realised the new main branch of Bilfinger Power Systems in a location very close to Centro Oberhausen. The clearly structured monolithic building asserts its identity in the “Neue Mitte” Oberhausen otherwise dominated by the Centro and forms an impressive prelude on the Europaallee to the developing Centro site. The designers have accomplished this with a sumptuous courtyard-like main entrance, which makes the large glazed two-storey foyer readily readable and underlines this entrance gesture with a deep canopy as wide as the building itself. The five-storey new build with 15,000 m² of office space has a particularly efficient layout concept with high-grade workstations, which can be divided if necessary into up to seven separate usage units per storey. On the ground floor, in addition to an exhibition and foyer area, there is also a conference centre as well as restaurant facilities alongside an attractive outdoor space. The lively perforated facade in light-coloured natural stone reinforces the monolithic effect of the building and shares its strength. The building meets the highest sustainability criteria and has already been precertified to the DGNB silver standard.
