office and commercial building KWS 253. DÜSSELDORF

Reduced elegance in a prominent location: the six-storey commercial building is located on the corner of the street adjoining Tersteegenstraße. From an urban design perspective, the building recedes at an angle from the street and offers a visual lead into the premises. The ground floor contains two food outlets; the floor above it solely features doctors’ surgeries; only then does one arrive at the offices. This functional three-way split is evident from the outside in the shift from a single to a dual layer insulation facade. The building attains its almost monolithic, basic shape through a number of structural enhancements such as recessed columns or lowered, invisible floor inlets. All this has resulted in a high-quality site, both in terms of urban development planning and in terms of architecture.
